Context

Client engagement.

Agropecuaria Los Bovinos needed a production system for an eight-month livestock investment cycle: capital enters the business, cattle are purchased and tracked individually, operating costs accumulate, animals are sold by weight, profits are distributed, and the remaining capital is reinvested into the next cycle.

The challenge was not a generic dashboard. Inventory, purchases, expenses, sales, debts, external investors, cash flow, and partner returns all had to agree on the same operational state.

Engineering approach

I designed and delivered the application around the livestock domain, with cycles as the central business unit rather than a collection of disconnected CRUD screens.

Key engineering decisions:

  • Linked purchases, expenses, animal inventory, sales, and profit-and-loss calculations to the same cycle.
  • Modeled each animal as an auditable record with purchase cost, weight and health events, batch, lifecycle status, and sale relationship.
  • Made purchase and sale workflows update inventory state consistently; deleting a sale restores the affected animals instead of leaving orphaned state.
  • Enforced admin and operator boundaries with Supabase Auth and Row-Level Security.
  • Added database audit triggers that record INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE operations with previous and new JSON state.
  • Built connected views for cash flow, debts, investors, market prices, patrimony, cycle P&L, and investment scenarios.
  • Containerized the application for repeatable local and production delivery.

Outcome

Delivered a production operating system covering the business from cattle acquisition through sale and reinvestment. The platform gives administrators one traceable source for inventory and financial operations while providing controlled access for other business participants.
